plans!
Just figured out that I have two major work trips coming up.
Feb 28th to March 3rd I’l be in Boston. In New York March 14th-16th.
The only disappointment is that I was hoping to be able to spend a couple of days at home with my family at some point in March. I had clearly completely forgotten than this is when work gets [even more] hectic [than usual] preparing for the summer season. I...
My week so far:
Sunday: baking all the things.
Monday: 6am bootcamp, full day of work condensed into 4 hours, helping set up event and bringing baked goods to event, sticking around all night and helping clean up
Tuesday: VALENTINE’S
Now. Ok. Boyfriend and I don’t really make a huge deal about Valentine’s Day because…just because. It is so cliche and we both hate cliches, along with...
Things I Love About You.
I love the way you exude strength just by your presence alone.
I love the softness of your hair wrapped around my fingers.
I love it when you kiss my forehead.
I love your insistence on talking before we go to bed, even when you’re away and in another timezone.
I love the softness of your lips.
I love the way you curl your tongue out of the side of your mouth when you’re...
Laying in bed with boyfriend and puppy. Watching some TV. Painting my nails.
All systems go.
I’m sick and I’m tired and the puppy is pissing everywhere and I want my boyfriend but he’s not here for another few days and BAH HUMBUG!

Puppy comes home on Friday!

Home. Again.
Together this time. Laying in bed pigging out on things we shouldn’t be pigging out on and watching old episodes on Criminal Minds [the Gideon days, the best days] and commiserating about how great the Gideon seasons were. Neither of us feel like dealing with the rest of the world today. Outside, I’m acting like everything is okay. Like we didn’t receive some brow-raising news...
Impulse.
I’m getting on a plane to the west coast tomorrow morning [with a very short stop in Dallas].
Of course S insisted I fly first class. Just a one-way ticket. Return date unknown.
Why?
Because life is short, and we are oh-so-fucking-lucky to have the one we have right now. So really, why not?
One makes mistakes, gets led astray, digresses. If one could see one’s crooked...

Home. Alone.
He’s made it out west on his own. It’s fine because he’ll be home in a couple of days, before I even know it. Thankfully, the distance is not the hardest part. In the meantime, I’m enjoying a weekend at home, alone. Well, enjoying is an overstatement; I’m indifferent. But there’s a lot to keep me busy.
Catching up on work: clearing out all of my unread...

Being a supportive girlfriend/entertainment interlude/comic relief.
It’s okay though. Sex in a king bed is the bomb.com [Yea, I just said that.] We’ve already agreed that in “our” house, we will sleep in a king. Among many of the things we’ve talked about. I love talking. Among many of the things that we get to do together. But honestly, quality time is amazing no...
Weekend of:
homemade pasta, veal Parmesan and from-scratch garlic knots.
homemade cocoa with cloud-shaped marshmallows.
having a bottle of wine all to myself.
DIY picture hanging [aka: finally making this place mine]
cleaning all the things.
laundry.
freshly baked cheddar scones.
reading The Time Traveler’s Wife.
All kinds of me-time up in here.
On the road again.
Boyfriend is back on the road again. He’s feeling better and I know it’s a good sign. It’s a fine line between optimism and trying to be realistic. He won’t be 100% anytime soon, but any progress is…still progress. I’m home, going to get through working from home tomorrow, then trying to simultaneously relax and productively get through this upcoming weekend....

a little overdue, but...
2011, the year where I finally came into my own professionally. Where I came into my own as a partner, a sister, a daughter, a friend. Where my brother finally came home from Afghanistan- for good. Where I no longer have to hold my breath at every phone call, every email, every message from home. Where I grew up. A lot.
2012? Big year. Big goals:
Run 3 marathons: Pittsburgh, Chicago,...
